Spring and its allergies are back

Dear Liver,

It’s your time of the year again. You are the most important organ during spring, you will make us feel the change in our body from wintersleep to summer heat. Our body reacts to the light that is longer, the pollen in the air, the cold and cough we get from sudden weather change hot/cold/dry air/ rain…

In Chinese medicine we pay attention to the WOOD element and with it Liver and Gallbladder as the main organs/meridians. We may be a little more irritated in spring as everything changes.

How to prevent our body from the nuisance of change?

Eat less spicy or heavy meals, not too salty either. Start your day with a seasonal fruitmix (red berries) that you warm up, have some spring veggies (artichoke, asparagus, andive…), have some poultry for the meat lovers.

Drinking warm water, infusions of thyme, camomile and goji berries/chrysanthemum, hibiscus… are good to keep the blood flux flowing and not flaring up the heat pricking our throat, eyes or nose.

Go for a walk and dress attentively to the sudden weather changes. Cover your ears and neck when in A/C rooms.

Have a good time with Spring and your Wood elements!
